Meeting at the IRgA Makes Financial Sense

Reprographers who believe the way to future business success is to stay in the shop and tend to current business are sorely mistaken. A study by Oxford Economics USA proves that companies that continue to meet and explore new ways of doing business are more profitable than those that do not.

In fact, those companies that attend industry meetings recognize $12.50 in additional revenue per dollar invested and $3.80 in profit. By contrast, those companies that decide not to meet suffer 17 percent declines in profits on average, and it takes more than three years to recoup the losses.

Now that we have established attending the IRgA’s 2010 Convention & Trade Show is a “no brainer,” read on to explore the many ways in which your peers on the Convention Planning Committee have “shaken things up” to ensure that this year’s event will be unlike any other you have experienced.

What’s in store for 2010?

Intimacy is back! All convention events will be held within the compact convention center and attached hotel area.

1.) Food stations will be provided instead of a lunch area, allowing people to continue to mingle through the trade show floor.

2.) The IRgA is still the only place where all of the influential people within our industry gather and where all of the wide-format imaging providers are under the same roof.
Education on the trade show floor. There will be two general sessions and breakouts will be held throughout the event without having to leave the trade show floor.

1.) On Friday, there will be an Open Space event – the latest form of education where attendees drive the content in their discussions.

2.) Education focuses on views of the industry from the 30,000-foot level so affinity organizations can drill down and focus on issues pertinent to them.
The Golf Tournament will be held Wednesday afternoon, allowing many to arrive in the morning as opposed to arriving the night before.
ARC and the affinity organizations, including the PEiR Group, ReproMAX and RSA, will be holding their meetings after the IRgA.

The convention promises to bring out the most relevant discussions and foster networking unlike anyone has experienced in the past. Call for Board of Directors Candidates

If you, or someone you know, is interested in serving on the IRgA Board of Directors, now is the time to act. The Nominating Committee is seeking qualified and interested candidates to serve on the IRgA Board for 2010-2013. Click here to access the Nominations Application Form, which describes the open positions, requirements and other details you will need to know.

To be considered, the IRgA will need to receive applications from all interested candidates by March 5. The committee will meet in March to determine the slate, and an announcement of candidates will be made to the IRgA membership in May. Election to the board will take place during the Annual Business Meeting, Friday, May 21, at 8 a.m. at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

Deadline: Nominations Due for the Prestigious Bukovsky Award

Now is the time to submit your entries for the 2010 Bukovsky Award, our industry's highest honor. The Bukovsky Award honors the memory of George K. Bukovsky, who worked in the reprographics industry for more than 30 years. During his long career, he was actively involved in the IRgA and worked to further the industry. The award was established after his death in 1990 to honor his outstanding contributions, and the IRgA will celebrate 19 years of recognizing individuals, reprographers and vendors who have also made a lasting impact on the industry. There are several well-deserving candidates, so don't be shy. Award criteria and the nomination form are available at the IRgA Web site. All nominations must be received at the IRgA headquarters by Friday, Jan. 29.

IRgA member companies have free access to live and archived Webinars, which provide industry tips and tricks from industry experts. The IRgA’s next Webinar — “Search Marketing Overview: Where Do I Begin?” — is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 3., 11 a.m. to noon CDT.

Patrick Lundbom, president, Motoz Marketing, LLC, will provide an overview of how search engines work. He’ll highlight important elements to consider for search engine optimization (SEO) when building web infrastructure and how to compliment SEO with your paid search campaigns. This session will set the stage for later sessions that will dive into the details of each technical element.
