Compensation & Benefits Study Needs Your Participation
Throughout the year, I receive several calls from IRgA members asking about what’s happening in the labor market. What are people giving as raises this year? Do you have any data on what a production manager or customer service representative earns in my area? What do other companies pay in bonuses? How many sick days to companies give?
I can’t be of much help because the most recent data on record is from 2002. That’s why the IRgA embarked on compensation & benefits study unlike it has ever conducted, hiring the Management Association of Illinois to serve as an independent consultant for the project, as well as offer confidentiality to the data.
The 2008 survey was sent to key contacts at nearly 700 reprographics locations throughout the United States and Canada. To date, we have received a whopping 12 responses! That’s a 1.7 percent response when other industries get as high as a 50 percent participation for these kinds of surveys. If an association is to provide valuable information about the industry it serves, its members must participate in the surveys it conducts.
I highly encourage all key contacts to please complete the survey you received via e-mail. The survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete and will allow the IRgA to continue to provide the value the industry seeks. If you are a key contact and you would like the survey resent to you or have questions on how to complete, please contact us at 800.833-4742 or info@IRgA.com.  Read More... |

‘Green’ Convention Center Hosts 2009 IRgA Convention
Situated on the banks of the Allegheny River in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center is the first and largest “green” convention center in the world. And this April 29 – May 1, the state-of-the-art facility will play host to the 2009 IRgA Convention & Trade Show.
The convention center is Gold LEED certified, a designation awarded by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) through its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The eco-friendly convention center boasts it’s commitment to three R’s – Reducing, Reusing and Recycling.
Reduce: By utilizing the natural ventilation system for approximately 60 days per year, roughly 33 percent of Exhibit Hall's event days, the convention center eliminates the need for artificial heating and cooling.
Reuse: The convention center's water treatment facility reclaims more than 4.75 million gallons of water per year, reducing water usage by about 55 percent.
Recycle: The convention center recycles an estimated 124,000 pounds of paper and cardboard per year, saving the equivalent of 1,054 trees, 434,000 gallons of water, 682 barrels of oil and 186 cubic yards of landfill space. They also recycle several thousand pounds of plastic and aluminum each year, conserving enough energy to produce about 7,500 gallons of gasoline or light a 100-watt light bulb for almost a century.
Download the “Being Green” brochure for more information on how the David L. Lawrence Convention Center is keeping it “green” and stay plugged into www.IRgA.com for additional convention details as they become available!

Digital Services Guide Available for IRgA Members
|
|
“Digital Services” is one of the hottest, yet most abstract topics discussed in the reprographics community today. As the marketplace changes and margins get squeezed, reprographers are looking for ways to capture these services while maintaining high levels of service and be able to reach their profit objectives.
As a follow up to the IRgA’s “Charging for Digital Services” document, along with presentations from past IRgA Annual Conventions, the Digital Services Committee presents Digital Services and the Reprographer.
With this member-only guide, the IRgA hopes to continue to refine our language and best practices for digital services into coherent and profitable solutions for our industry. READ MORE  Read More... |

Total revenues decreased organically by 1.5 percent if the non-core fax business is excluded. Recurring revenues excluding fax decreased 0.9 percent. During 2008 Océ acquired Intersoft whilst Arkwright and Océ Document Technologies were divested. The ROI of Employee Retention is More Than Impressive
By Debra Thompson
In May of this year, I had the pleasure of presenting at the IRgA 2008 Annual Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nev., on the rules of engagement for effective people management. From the comments during and after the session it was clear that reprographers are feeling the same pains as owners and managers in other industries. It is becoming ever more difficult to find talented employees needed to be successful.
This article originally appeared in the July/August issue of Repro Report, which is available for download at the IRgA Web site. READ MORE  Read More... |
